Jason Tougaw and Larissa Swedell at the Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town, South Africa
Each January, a group of Queens College and CUNY students study abroad at the University of Cape Town. In 2012, 14 students traveled to Cape Town–each taking one of two courses: Jason Tougaw’s “Memoirs of Life in South Africa” or Larissa Swedell’s “The Human-Primate Interface” (also being offered in Fall 2014). The two groups of students worked together closely as they studied South African culture from these different perspectives. The students also took unusual and distinctive photos, which they shared on the website for Tougaw’s memoir course.
